Yolanda Renee King

Yolanda Renee King is a rising young activist and author. She is the sole grandchild of Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and Coretta Scott King and carries their legacy by speaking out on issues like gun violence, voting rights and systemic inequality. Her activism includes protesting outside the White House demanding protection for voting rights, addressing hundreds of thousands at the March For Our Lives against gun violence, and addressing the UN General Assembly.

In a recent keynote address at Clemson University, she quoted her grandfather and encouraged attendees to exercise their right to vote by reminding them “the most important step you can take is the short walk to the ballot box.”

Ms. King is the author of the children’s book We Dream a World which pays homage to her grandparents’ legacy and reminds young people that they, too, can be agents of change.

In 2023, Yolanda joined her parents in commemoration of the 60th Anniversary of the March on Washington. At the March, Yolanda addressed hundreds of thousands of people and declared “my generation will be defined by action, not apathy." By using her voice to organize, inspire, and push for change, she is building on her grandparents’ dream while helping to shape a new generation’s commitment to justice.
