The Norwegian Nobel Committee has decided that this year’s Nobel Peace Prize award ceremony shall be an in-person event taking place in Oslo City Hall on 10 December.

The Committee is expecting both Maria Ressa and Dmitry Muratov to attend the ceremony. Moreover, the World Food Programme, which was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for 2020, will be represented at the ceremony by its Executive Director David Beasley.

The 2021 Nobel Peace Prize laureates will give a press conference at the Norwegian Nobel Institute. The Norwegian Nobel Committee is expecting both Maria Ressa and Dmitry Muratov to attend the press conference. 

 The press conference is open to accredited media only.

The Nobel Peace Prize laureates meet children at Save the Children's annual Peace Prize Party. A show made by and for children. Children from 5th, 6th or 7th grade are welcome in the audience.

Nobel Peace Prize award ceremony

The 2021 Nobel Peace Prize award ceremony takes place in Oslo City Hall.
The ceremony contains artistic performances, the speech of Chair of the Nobel Committee, the laureates are presented the diploma and gold medal, and finally give the Nobel Lecture.
The Norwegian Nobel Committee is expecting both Maria Ressa and Dmitry Muratov to attend the ceremony.
Moreover, the World Food Programme, which was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for 2020, will be represented at the ceremony by its Executive Director David Beasley. Mr. Beasley will deliver the Nobel Lecture on behalf of the World Food Programme.

Torchlight procession

Oslo Central Station to the Grand Hotel

The torchlight procession starts at Oslo Central Station and ends in front of the Grand Hotel, where the laureates greet the parade from the balcony of the Nobel Suite.

The parade is organised by the Norwegian Peace Council.

The Nobel Banquet

Grand Hotel

More than 200 guests are welcomed by the Nobel Committee to the Nobel Banquet at The Grand Hotel. Seated with the laureates are normally HM The King and HM The Queen, the President of the Storting, the Prime Minister and members of the Nobel Committee. Other guests usually include HRH The Crown Prince and HRH The Crown Princess, ministers, members of the Storting, and representatives of public institutions, non-profit organizations, and cultural and commercial life.

The Nobel Peace Prize Forum 2021 will be held on 11 December at the University of Oslo Aula from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm

How the pursuit, production, and consumption of food could unlock new possibilities for achieving sustainable development on a global scale.

 The Forum will feature speeches from David Beasley, Executive Director of the World Food Programme, Professor Johan Rockström, Director of the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research, Dr Agnes Kalibata, UN Secretary General's Special Envoy for the Food

Opening Nobel Peace Prize Exhibition

Each year, the Nobel Peace Center creates a new photo exhibition about the Nobel Peace Prize laureate in collaboration with internationally acclaimed photographers. This year’s exhibition about Maria Ressa and Dmitry Muratov’s work will officially be opened by the laureates themselves in a closed event. The exhibition will be open to the public from 12 December.

Nobel Peace Prize Concert

The Norwegian Nobel Institute in collaboration with the Oslo Philharmonic and the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation invite to a concert in honour of the 2021 Nobel Peace Prize laureates at Oslo Concert Hall.

 The Nobel Peace Prize Concert has a long-standing tradition, and has taken various forms since it was first held at the National Theatre in 1994. The Oslo Philharmonic presents a festive celebration complete with great orchestra music, choir, soloists and guest artists.

 Our partners are choreographer and director Benke Rydman and architectural firm Snøhetta, and together we are set to deliver an event which is at the same time local and international, traditional and innovative, and solemn yet celebratory!
