The Nobel Peace Prize is awarded on December 10 in a formal ceremony at the Oslo City Hall. The laureate is presented with the Nobel medal and diploma, and is asked to deliver a Nobel lecture.
The Nobel Banquet is held at the Grand Hotel in the centre of Oslo on the evening of December 10.
The 18 carat (fairmined) gold medal with Latin inscription "pro pace et fraternitate gentiums", symbolizes the international fraternization that Nobel wished to contribute to through the Peace Prize.
The diploma presented with the medal at the award ceremony on 10 December features original artwork by a contemporary Norwegian artist. The calligraphed diploma text is in Norwegian.
