Hassina Syed

Hassina Syed was recently named Afghanistan’s Businesswoman of the Year. She has also been hailed by Forbes magazine as one of the country’s most successful entrepreneurs. She was the only female member of the Afghan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the only woman to have taken part in official trade delegations led by former President Hamid Karzai. She has created multiple successful businesses over the past 20 years. Hassina Syed is also a women’s rights activist and has been an advisory voice on the sidelines of the Doha peace talks. Hassina Syed is married to Afghanistan expert and former reporter Peter Jouvenal.
